A Few Words About ScubaNicks

ScubaNicks was founded in Phuket in 2004. A Boutique diving company that has consistently provided diving services to the highest of standards to clients from all walks of life.

As a modest family business, from the outset ScubaNicks set out to deliver quality, safe, fun diving. We have maintained our niche market position of delivering unique, tailor-made diving services to all our clients.

With 20 years of experience and knowledge we are at the forefront of delivering all dive services with many thousands of happy divers. We welcome divers of all levels from outright beginner, casual divers to seasoned divers.

With diving options available from beach, join-in boat, private dive boats, liveaboards and yacht charter, we can deliver what you, our valued client, would like.

With 20 years of experience and knowledge we are at the forefront of delivering all dive courses with many thousands of satisfied students.

In the last few years, we have now extended our services to deliver SSI Professional dive courses from Divemaster to Instructor.

Our History

2004

After 8 years in the Light Infantry and 22 years with the last 8 years as Sales and Marketing Director Gallaher (Dublin) Ltd. Nick decided to branch out for a new vocation in Diving. Completing first his Divemaster in Tanzania and Instructor in Phuket Nick established ScubaNicks.

From the outset he decided to focus more on quality and in particular the niche market of “boutique” diving. Striving at all times to deliver what the client actually wants.

2005

One of the most satisfying parts of having a dive company is seeing the smiles on our clients from their first touch of breathing underwater. Here clients can choose from Try Scuba, Scuba Diver, Basic diver or the first full course of Open Water diver.

After open water diver clients can then progress through specialities from Deep, Wreck, Navigation, Bouyancy, React Right (first aid) to Diver Stress and Rescue.

2006

For those clients who do not wish to go on the comfortable large dive boats, ScubaNicks main speciality is in delivering “private diving tours”. Here you get to choose your own boat – dive only with your group/family/friends – Snorkelers also welcome !! As for the dive day, we have 20 years of experience of all known and “not known” dive sites in both the North and South Andaman sea. Please refer to Dive Sites.

We are happy to train at your private villa or at the professional dive pool based in Rawai.

2015

SSI Dive Guide (5 days) and Professional Divemaster (bespoke program)

Having completed 4 Specialties and 40 dives it is now time to take the lead! Choose the path for you, with Dive Guide or the Professional rating options on certification. You will learn to navigate with confidence, plan and lead your own dives. Learn how to look after clients and about the dive business as a profession. You essentially become part of the ScubaNicks family for the duration of your course. Due to the wide range of our clients’ needs, all our Divemaster Trainees get exposure to many facets of the dive business.

2024

Now with over 8,000 clients and 4,000 dive certifications, ScubaNicks has a detailed knowledge and understanding of client needs associated with quality, fun and safe diving. At ScubaNicks we employ only the best instructors on the island of Phuket.

Our Mission: To continue the legacy established by Nick some 20 years ago of delivering client needs to the very best of our ability.

Instructors

Nick Fawcus-Robinson

Nick initially trained as BSAC, then PADI and since 2016 SSI – Over 2,200 combined certifications issued and in excess of 5,500 clients.

All clients enjoy being treated on a private and exclusive basis and it has been a pleasure teaching and diving with you all.

Victoria Fawcus-Robinson

Victoria joined in 2015 and then going dive pro in 2018. She is now the Senior Instructor at ScubaNicks enabling us to cater for all divers up to and including dive professionals.

She is also a Mermaid Instructor and a Freediving Instructor.

Ekkananant (Ekk)

Ekk joined ScubaNicks in 2018 and went pro in 2020 as Divemaster and completed his instructor training course in Jan 2023.

Fluent in English and Thai, he is the stalwart of teaching, guiding and liveaboard and extremely popular member of staff with some wonderful reviews from our clients.

Sassithorn (Waan)

Waan with 300 dives done has been with ScubaNicks since 2019 and is extremely knowledgeable about the dive business.

She is happy to run the office with a focus on bookings – particularly liveaboards. She assists greatly with Thai try divers, and issues such as Private taxis, Dentist etc.. !!

Sponsorship

Over the years ScubaNicks has directly sponsored 10 Thais to Divemaster level and a further 6 Divemaster’s sponsored by our clients – Many are still working in the industry today. This is a significant cost but goes some way to recruiting more Thais to the industry.

Assisted with Phoenix disaster

In 2018 there was a most regrettable disaster with the sinking of the Pheonix and the loss of 47 lives. ScubaNicks assisted in the immediate aftermath in the recovery operation.

Fund raising

Raised over 1,000,000 Thb providing food relief to locals with Covid lockdown.

Orphans care

Linked up with Sunshine village for free diving for the Orphans.

Contribution

Makes an active contribution to recruiting more Thais to learn to dive, Offering free try dives on a consistent basis.
